The series Soeurs is premiering tonight on France 2. Starring Lola Dewaere, who plays twin sisters Astrid and Raphaëlle, this four-episode drama promises to take viewers on a thrilling and full-of-twists journey. During the 2026 La Rochelle Fiction Festival, Dewaere shared her thoughts on the dual role, the difficulties involved, and her inspirations. Dewaere stated that the technical skill required for playing twin sisters fascinated her and was a key reason she accepted the project. She mentioned that the film Faux-semblants with Jeremy Irons had a big impact on her when she was young and that she had always been fascinated by this approach. Dewaere described the scene at the restaurant, where the twins decide to switch roles and get dressed in each other's clothes in the toilets, as the most difficult to interpret. She noted that she had to be very careful with her posture and remain very upright because it was necessary to be able to insert images during the editing. She explained that she and her double couldn't touch each other or get too close, as this would have made it difficult to merge the images. There was an invisible line that they couldn't cross, and it wasn't easy. She mentioned that once you know this, you can see that she is very upright. It was a bit disturbing to have to maintain the position and not move too much. Dewaere said that playing two different characters and playing Elisabeth who is pretending to be Élodie was a challenge, but once she found the right nuance, it became easier. She credited her extraordinary double for being excellent during the filming and noted that without her, she wouldn't have been able to do it. Dewaere explained that Elisabeth decides to stay in her sister's skin rather than revealing that they have switched places because she couldn't do otherwise since they tried to kill her. She mentioned that later in the series, things about her sister will be discovered, and if she had been discovered, there are things she wouldn't have been able to accomplish being herself. It was more interesting for her to remain in this situation. Moreover, in any case, she wouldn't have been able to do otherwise: she would have been killed directly. She would have had people chasing her if they had realized it was her, in the end. Dewaere said she feels closer to the character of Élodie and explained that she likes her because she is much more reserved than people think. She added that this is also what she wants to sell day by day. People think she tells everything on social media, that she doesn't have many secrets, that she doesn't really have a secret garden, but in fact, she has many more than people think. In any case, in her performance, she felt much more at home with the character of Élodie than with that of Elisabeth. Dewaere said it is pleasant for her to play such characters and noted that they don't have that many opportunities to do so.
