Sony has announced lower prices for its PlayStation Plus subscription services, which will take effect in May 2026. The three annual plans are currently being offered at reduced rates. The Essential tier is now priced at 61.19 euros, down from the usual 71.99 euros per year. The Extra tier has been discounted from 125.99 to 100.79 euros, and the Premium tier from 151.99 to 113.99 euros. These promotions are available until the end of September 2026. The PlayStation Plus Essential tier provides access to online multiplayer gaming, monthly games added to the user's library, and discounts on the PlayStation Store. The subscription remains active for the duration of the subscription period, allowing continued access to the monthly games. For users primarily interested in online multiplayer with friends, the Essential tier is considered sufficient. The Extra tier includes all the features of the Essential tier, plus a catalog of hundreds of games ranging from major blockbusters to independent titles. However, since January 2026, Sony has indicated that PS4 games will be added only occasionally, with a greater focus on PS5 titles. The Premium tier includes everything offered by the Extra tier, plus a catalog of classic games from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 eras, trial versions of games, and cloud streaming capabilities for PS5 games. To use the cloud streaming feature, a minimum internet connection speed of 5 Mbit/s is required, with 15 Mbit/s recommended for 1080p resolution. The Premium tier's value depends on the user's internet connection and interest in retro titles.
