Alternative to PowerPoint released

DeckCraft is a free and open-source application that serves as an alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint. It is designed to be a direct replacement for PowerPoint, offering similar features and functionality across Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.

Part of a broader software series

DeckCraft is part of a collection of applications called ArtCraft, which includes PhotoCraft, PDFCraft, and WordCraft. These applications are described as being as capable as the commercial software they are inspired by, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word.

Filling a gap in presentation tools

For users who avoid Microsoft products, options like LibreOffice and Google Slides have been the primary tools for creating presentations. However, these are often seen as less professional compared to PowerPoint. Until now, finding a tool that matches PowerPoint’s capabilities has been considered difficult.

Superior features and usability

According to one report, DeckCraft outperforms LibreOffice Impress in terms of features and ease of use. Animations in Impress are described as frustrating to set up, often not working as intended. In contrast, DeckCraft allows users to select an element, choose an animation, set the duration, and preview it reliably every time.

Efficiency in creating presentations

DeckCraft allows users to create presentations in half the time compared to LibreOffice. In one example, the same presentation was made in half the time using DeckCraft. Animations in DeckCraft were described as flawless, while those in Impress were unreliable and often resulted in unimpressive outcomes.

Design Ideas feature

DeckCraft includes a "Design Ideas" feature, accessible through a bulb-shaped icon. This tool helps users discover different slide options, improving the appearance and usability of their presentations. It allows users to quickly build and refine a presentation to achieve professional results in a short time.

Simpler slide transitions

Transitions between slides are described as simpler in DeckCraft compared to other applications. Overall, the application is noted for making the design and creation of presentations exceptional with a simplicity that makes it easy for users to learn and use, even if they are not familiar with PowerPoint.

A strong alternative to Microsoft software

DeckCraft is highlighted as a significant alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint, offering the same features without cost and working on multiple operating systems. It is considered a real achievement in the world of free and open-source software, following in the footsteps of other applications developed by the ArtCraft team.
