Passengers using the London Euston rail route are experiencing significant disruptions due to two separate track defects discovered earlier today. The issues have caused delays and cancellations for commuters traveling to and from Euston station, with National Rail warning of ongoing problems affecting both Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services. These disruptions stem from speed restrictions imposed after the track issues were identified this morning. The first defect was found near Tring, while the second occurred between Euston and Watford Junction. According to National Rail, a speed restriction has been placed on the track between Berkhamsted and Cheddington, forcing trains to travel at a slower pace toward Milton Keynes Central. An additional track defect has been reported between Euston and Watford Junction, further complicating the situation. As a result, trains traveling between Euston and Milton Keynes Central may face delays of up to 10 minutes, route changes, or even cancellations. These issues are expected to persist throughout the day. Commuters have taken to social media to express frustration over the ongoing disruptions. One passenger from Watford wrote, "LNRailway another day more cancellations, every train cancelled from Hemel to Euston what's happening?" The statement highlights the growing concern among travelers affected by the rail problems. Metro has reached out to Network Rail for a response, though no official comment has been provided yet. To help mitigate the impact, Avanti West Coast passengers can use their tickets on either of the two Avanti services immediately before or after their scheduled train. Meanwhile, those traveling on London Northwestern Railway can use their tickets on the Overground service between Euston and Watford without additional cost until midday. These temporary solutions aim to ease the burden on affected commuters while the track issues are resolved.
