Ubisoft has announced the launch edition of Rayman Legends Retold, a package that includes two games and additional content, following controversy over Rockstar Games' collector's edition for GTA 6. Rockstar recently revealed a collector's edition for GTA 6, priced at 400€, which has sparked discussion among players due to its high cost and the inclusion of content that some consider questionable. Ubisoft's announcement came through the official X account of the Rayman franchise, highlighting the return of the mascot with the remake of Rayman Legends, expected to release on December 3rd. The title was previously delayed to allow for additional development time to ensure quality. The physical edition of Rayman Legends Retold includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced, a reimagined version of an earlier game in the series, as well as The Hoodlum Havoc pack with two in-game costumes, a printed map of the Crossroads of Dreams, three lithographs, and an exclusive case. The package is priced at 39.99€ and is available only on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with no physical version planned for Xbox Series or PC. This decision has disappointed some fans who hoped for a broader release. Ubisoft's announcement included a reference to the "Glade of Dreams Collection," a direct nod to the Vice City Collection of GTA 6. The mention is seen as a subtle jab at Rockstar, highlighting the contrast in pricing and content between the two editions. Players have reacted positively to Ubisoft's approach, with some noting the difference in value and creativity between the two collector's editions. The launch of Rayman Legends Retold reflects Ubisoft's strategy to engage with fans through enhanced editions that offer both game content and collectible items. While the price point and exclusivity of the edition have drawn mixed reactions, the release is expected to attract both longtime fans of the Rayman series and those interested in the broader gaming collectibles market.
