Ubisoft, a French video game publisher, has delayed the release of Rayman Legends Retold by two months. The company stated that the delay was made to ensure a successful launch and to better meet the expectations of its fans. Alongside the announcement, Ubisoft introduced the "Launch Edition" of the game, which includes a printed map of "Glade of Dreams," three lithographs, an exclusive slipcase, and copies of both Rayman Legends Retold and Origins: Enhanced Edition. The company also included a wink emoji in its message, which some fans interpreted as a subtle jab at Rockstar Games, another major video game developer. Rockstar Games recently announced the "Vice City Collection," a special edition of Grand Theft Auto VI, available on its official store. The collection includes various physical items such as a "Macca the Gator" figurine, sunglasses, a shoulder bag, a cap, a magnetic mirror, a shot glass, and a cocktail spoon. However, the actual game is not included in the package and must be purchased separately for an additional 89.99 euros. The total cost for the collection and the game is 489.98 euros. The pricing and content of Rockstar's collection have been widely questioned online, with many criticizing the high cost and the lack of the game in the package. In response, Ubisoft's mention of its own "Launch Edition," which includes the game at a more reasonable price, has been seen as a direct reaction to these criticisms. The post about the Launch Edition has gained significant attention on X, a social media platform. Rayman Legends Retold is now scheduled for release on December 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. The delay and the focus on the Launch Edition highlight the ongoing competition between major game developers and the growing importance of collector's editions in the gaming industry.
