Andy Robinson, editor-in-chief of the British media outlet Video Games Chronicle, suggested during a podcast that the PC version of GTA 6 might be released earlier than expected. This speculation, reported by TechPowerUp, is based on informal discussions rather than official confirmation. Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two, have not announced any changes to the current release schedule. As of now, GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, with no PC version planned for launch. Rockstar typically delays PC versions of its major titles, often by several months or even years. For example, GTA 5 launched on PC about 18 months after its console release, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern, with a roughly one-year gap. The studio has previously explained that it prioritizes the console audience at launch, as developing and optimizing games for PC requires additional time and resources. If Rockstar were to change its strategy this time, it might be due to ongoing shortages in hardware components, which have affected the entire gaming industry. These shortages have led to high demand and limited supply of consoles, with prices rising significantly. For instance, the PS5 Pro sold out quickly after GTA 6 was announced, and restocked units came with price increases of over $400. Microsoft has also raised the prices of its Xbox consoles globally. By releasing a PC version earlier, Rockstar might aim to attract players who cannot find consoles at reasonable prices. For now, however, there is no official confirmation of any schedule changes. The idea of an earlier PC release comes from informal discussions and rumors, not from Rockstar’s public statements. Those hoping to play GTA 6 as early as November will need to secure a console, assuming they can find one at a fair price. Until further notice, the PC version’s release date remains uncertain.
