Long-running soap opera to end in 2027

The French television soap opera Les Feux de l'amour, which has aired continuously since 1989, will no longer be shown on TF1's morning schedule starting in early 2027. The decision follows years of declining viewership and growing competition from other channels.

Historic end for a long-time fixture

Les Feux de l'amour will conclude its run on TF1 after 37 years and over 13,000 episodes, marking a significant moment for the channel's audience. It had previously aired after the news at 13:00 but was moved to the morning schedule in 2017, where it remained for ten years.

Declining viewership prompts change

The show's departure is largely due to its falling viewership. In October 2026, it attracted only 340,000 viewers, a 9.3% market share. This is far below the success of similar shows on public service channels, such as Chacun son tour on France 2, which regularly drew over a million viewers.

New game show to take its place

TF1 has chosen to replace Les Feux de l'amour with a relaunched game show called Pyramide, which will be hosted by Arthur. Filming will start in November 2026, with the goal of producing six months of episodes in just two weeks.

Format and production details of the new show

The new Pyramide will be approximately forty minutes long and will feature anonymous contestants guessing words using a system of "bricks." Personalities such as Camille Cerf and Jean-Luc Lemoine will serve as master words. The show will begin in early 2027, following the final episode of Les Feux de l'amour in December 2026.

Future of the soap opera's story

While Les Feux de l'amour will no longer air on TF1's main channel, the show's remaining episodes may be moved to TNT channels like TMC or TF1 Séries Films. Additionally, the series will continue to be available on the streaming platform TF1+.
