Café owners return to hometown

Anaïck and Nicolas, both 29 and 31, are former Fine Arts students from Besançon who have opened a café called Lazy Dogs in their hometown after pursuing different careers. Anaïck previously worked as a tattoo artist and later as a barista in Lyon, while Nicolas worked in graphic design before entering the coffee shop industry.

Café caters to dog owners

The café, named Lazy Dogs, is designed to be a welcoming space for both humans and their dogs. The couple wanted to return to Besançon and create a relaxed environment where pet owners could enjoy coffee and treats with their animals.

Unique coffee preparation methods

Anaïck uses a percolator and a "gentle extraction" method to prepare espressos, which she says results in a more complex and clear cup, sometimes resembling tea. The café offers lightly roasted coffees with a range of flavors, including fruity, floral, and chocolate notes, as well as matchas, chai, and golden lattes.

In-house baked goods and pricing

Nicolas prepares sweet treats in-house, including cookies, cinnamon rolls, and cakes. The café is located at 103 Grande rue in Besançon and is open Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm and Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. An espresso costs 2€, while a coffee made with the gentle extraction method is priced at 6€.
