A 24-year-old e-bike rider has died after a suspected hit-and-run crash involving a moped in west London. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. on North Pole Road in North Kensington, a busy area with shops, restaurants, and homes. Bystanders discovered the man seriously injured on the road and called for help. Paramedics arrived quickly, but the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police has informed the victim’s family and is now appealing for witnesses to come forward. According to police, CCTV footage suggests a moped was involved in the crash, which occurred around 1:14 a.m. The moped driver did not stop and fled the scene. As a result, North Pole Road remains closed while investigators look into the incident. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Wilkins, from the Hammersmith and Fulham CID, said the police are working hard to find the moped driver and are urging anyone who saw the e-bike or the moped to contact them immediately. The e-bike was found near a parallel crossing, a type of pedestrian crossing where cyclists can ride through without stopping, and drivers must yield to them as they would to pedestrians. This crossing is part of Cycleway 27, which links East Acton in the west to Walthamstow Central in the east. The area where the crash occurred—where North Pole Road meets Bracewell Road and Latimer Road—has had several accidents over the years. In May 2022, a 17-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car. On June 29, 2013, a 33-year-old man was killed after being hit by a car on the same road.
