A murder investigation has been launched after a 24-year-old e-bike cyclist was found fatally wounded following a collision with a moped in Kensington, a neighborhood in west London. The incident took place at 1 a.m. on Friday, according to the Metropolitan Police. Authorities believe the moped was chasing the e-bike before the crash occurred. Police were called to North Pole Road, west London, about 20 minutes after the collision, following reports of a seriously injured man. The London Ambulance Service also responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the location.
The Metropolitan Police is searching for the moped rider and is appealing for witnesses to the collision and the events leading up to it. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at what is a very difficult time. We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened." He added that the team is following several lines of inquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the moped rider.
John urged anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to come forward with information. "If you have any information that could help, please come forward," he said. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police on 101, quoting reference number 414/25SEP26, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous. The police are seeking any details that might help uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify the moped rider.
