CVS Health is recalling specific batches of Clear Eyes Redness Relief Lubricant Eye Drops due to concerns about the sterility of the product. The recall was initiated by Medtech, a supplier to CVS, and affects select 0.5-fluid-ounce bottles of the eye drops sold at CVS pharmacies. The company has not confirmed whether the affected products are sterile, which is critical for eye drops, as non-sterile products can introduce bacteria or harmful substances directly into the eye. This could lead to serious infections or other complications. Customers who purchased these eye drops should stop using them immediately and check the lot number printed on the bottle to determine if their product is affected. The recalled items have UPC code 678112254156 and CVS SKU number 318160. The affected lots have expiration dates ranging from July through November 2027. Specific lot numbers include RL25G02, RL25G03, and RL25G04 (expiring July 2027), RL25H02, RL25H03, and RL25H04 (expiring August 2027), and others with expiration dates through November 2027. Anyone who has an affected bottle should return it to the CVS pharmacy where it was purchased. Customers with a receipt can receive a refund. For more information, individuals can contact Prestige Consumer Healthcare, the manufacturer, at Returns@PrestigeBrands.com or by calling 914-527-6897 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This recall was not listed on the FDA’s official drug-recall page, but CVS included the full list of affected lots in its September 17 recall notice. This is the latest in a series of recalls involving Clear Eyes products. In July, Prestige Consumer Healthcare recalled certain bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief due to similar concerns about sterility. It is not yet clear if the two recalls are related, but both highlight ongoing issues with ensuring the safety and sterility of over-the-counter eye care products.
