Nîmes closes waste centers due to weather

Public waste disposal centers in Nîmes have been temporarily closed due to weather-related concerns. The closures began on Monday, October 19, at 4 p.m., and are set to continue until Tuesday, October 20, at noon.

City facilities also closed for safety

Municipal facilities and public-facing structures in Nîmes have also been closed during the same time window. This includes daycare centers, leisure centers, social centers, and the Jardins de la Fontaine.

Some services will continue limited operations

Daycares and leisure centers will remain closed on Tuesday morning until noon. However, emergency care arrangements will be in place in daycares, and a minimum service will be set up in leisure centers to ensure essential functions are maintained.

Departmental center activated for monitoring

The prefect of the Gard, Fabienne Decottignies, has activated the Departmental Operational Center (COD) to monitor the meteorological situation. This center helps coordinate responses to potential weather-related emergencies in the region.

Residents urged to stay cautious

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution and follow safety instructions. Nîmes Métropole mentioned that unless a new decision is made based on the evolving weather situation, waste disposal centers are expected to reopen on Tuesday at midday.
