French cyclist Paul Magnier, riding for the Soudal Quick-Step team, may begin his 2027 racing season in Australia, according to a report from Stade 2 on France Télévisions. The report suggests Magnier is considering a return to competition with a focus on Australian events.

Comeback program includes Tour Down Under

Magnier has outlined a comeback program that includes a possible participation in the Tour Down Under, which is the first WorldTour race of the season. The French rider mentioned starting his preparation in Spain and hopes to restart the season in Australia.

Schedule of events in January

The Tour Down Under is scheduled to take place from January 19 to 24, 2027. Following this event, the Surf Coast Classic and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race are set for January 28 and 31, respectively. Magnier is expected to participate in these races as well.

Young cyclist aims for quick return

At 22 years old, Magnier could return to the peloton quickly after his winter preparation. He ended his 2026 season late, on October 18, during the Tour of Guangxi in China. This would be his first participation in Australian races.
