Hundreds of people gathered on College Green in Bristol to watch a lookalike competition featuring participants trying to resemble Australian actor Jacob Elordi. The event was organized by Overheard at UoB, a popular social media group that shares content about student life at the University of Bristol. Attendees watched as competitors dressed in styles reminiscent of Elordi, known for his roles in films like The Kissing Booth, Saltburn, and Wuthering Heights, as well as the HBO series Euphoria. The competition drew an estimated 500 spectators, showing the event’s popularity among students and fans. A 17-year-old girl, who chose to remain anonymous, was crowned the winner of the contest. Jamie Crook, a veterinary medicine student who recently moved from Oxford to Bristol, took part in the competition and described the experience as “so fun.” He said he was still “kind of shaking now” after the event and joked that he felt “like one of the most famous blokes in Bristol for a day.” Crook also mentioned that his “fresher’s flu” — a common term for the illness that often affects new university students — affected his Australian accent during his performance. Second place went to Joey Lush, who prepared for the competition by using Pinterest for outfit ideas and picking up a tote bag from the university’s fresher’s fair. Lush admitted he was “a bit nervous going up” but praised the winner, saying she “did an amazing job” and was “very much a clear winner.” He highlighted the winner’s “moustache that sold it,” emphasizing how small details helped her stand out. The event not only showcased the creativity of the participants but also highlighted the community-driven nature of student life at the University of Bristol. Competitions like these often become memorable experiences for students, blending humor, performance, and a shared sense of fun.
