The Montmorillon Book Fair is set to take place on October 31, bringing together sixty authors for a day of literary events in the Gartempe space. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will be free for the public to attend. Among the notable authors expected to participate are Franz-Olivier Giesbert, Harry Roselmack, and Marion Quantin. This event is a major attraction in the Vienne department, a region in central France, and had faced two delays during the 2026 season. The first delay was in March due to municipal elections, which pushed the fair to June 20. However, it was canceled at the last minute because of high temperatures. Despite these challenges, the city of Montmorillon decided to reschedule the event for October 31, and this date is now considered final. This year’s fair will feature a group of sixty authors, including 24 national figures. Political journalist Franz-Olivier Giesbert will open the fair with a talk titled Histoire intime de mes chefs-d'œuvre préférés, which explores his twenty favorite books. The talk will take place at the cinema Le Majestic. Marion Quantin, the 2026 winner of the Régine-Deforges First Novel Prize, will be present to promote her novel Ton cadavre exquis. Harry Roselmack, a journalist and presenter, will also attend to discuss his book L'amour malgré la peur. These authors will join other national personalities, as well as children's authors and regional writers, to engage with the public throughout the day. The Montmorillon Book Fair will offer a variety of activities, including debates and workshops, to encourage interaction between authors and readers. These sessions will provide opportunities for attendees to learn more about writing, literature, and the creative process. The event aims to bring together a diverse audience, from literary enthusiasts to casual readers, and will highlight the importance of local and national authors in the cultural landscape of the region. The fair is not only a celebration of literature but also a platform for emerging voices in the literary world. With its mix of well-known and up-and-coming authors, the event promises to be a dynamic and engaging experience for all attendees. The organizers hope that this edition of the fair will be a successful and memorable occasion, despite the previous challenges faced in scheduling it.
