Themes and influence of the manga

Combining adventure, magic, emotion, and epic battles, Magic Knight Rayearth is considered a precursor to modern isekai. It blends fantasy, romance, and mecha into a single adventure, featuring notable heroines who are courageous, funny, and sensitive.

Visual style and artistic influences

Graphically, the work displays inspirations of Art Nouveau style in costume, weapon, armor, and building designs. This visual style aligns with other works such as RGVeda, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Trèfle, or xxxHolic.

Synopsis of the manga

The story begins with Princess Emerald's call for help, as she summons three female students from another universe to rescue her from the villain Zagato. Together, they must prove their worth in a world where courage, determination, and magic will be their best allies.
