The second round of the Coupe de France, a major French football (soccer) knockout competition, featured a match between Saran and Toulouse. The game was described as a 100% Starligue encounter, meaning it was played entirely under the rules of the Starligue, a professional football league in France. Toulouse won the match 28-36, marking their first victory of the season and securing their place in the next round of the Cup. This result was the opposite of their previous meeting between the same teams during the first day of the championship, where Saran had come out on top. Toulouse, who had struggled throughout the season, started strong in this match, taking an early lead of 1-3 after six minutes. Their goalkeeper, Jef Lettens, was instrumental in the first half, making nine saves to help his team maintain their advantage. Saran responded well, and their goalkeeper, Zoran Radic, also made nine stops, allowing his team to regain control. However, Toulouse managed to take the lead into halftime, 13-16, by capitalizing on returned balls. Nemanja Ilic, a consistent scorer with 10 goals this season, played a key role in this effort. In the second half, Toulouse continued to play confidently and effectively. Fenix, the team name for Toulouse in this competition, used the same strategy as before, employing a 7-player game that allowed for multiple tactical options. Young player Jules Gougeon, who scored four goals and made nine passes, was given a leadership role by coach Danijel Andjelkovic and demonstrated his potential on the field. Toulouse kept increasing their lead, punishing every mistake made by Saran, and took a 24-29 advantage into the 48th minute. Toulouse’s coach, Luis Cruz, used the match to give opportunities to young players such as Samuel Dupuy and Kénissa Triau-Bétaré, but the momentum remained firmly with Toulouse. They ultimately secured their first win of the season with a final score of 28-36, advancing to the next round of the Coupe de France.
