Bond auditions begin this Friday

Filmed auditions for the next James Bond are set to start this Friday, with four actors—Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor, and an unnamed fourth—competing for the role. Amazon MGM Studios, which now oversees the Bond franchise, will conduct the auditions, with the process expected to continue through next week.

No official decision date yet

The studio has not yet announced when it will reveal its choice for the next Bond. Producer Amy Pascal previously told Deadline in August that a decision would be made "by the end of the year," but no specific date has been given for the official announcement.

Transition from Daniel Craig's era

The search comes as the James Bond franchise prepares to move on from Daniel Craig, whose final film as 007 is directed by Denis Villeneuve. The transition has sparked intense speculation since the 2021 announcement, with several actors previously considered favorites, though the current shortlist includes Lowden, Turner, O'Connor, and the fourth unnamed actor.

Jack Lowden's background and connections

Jack Lowden, known for his role as a pilot in Dunkirk, has experience with British espionage through his portrayal of a disgraced MI-5 agent in the series Slow Horses. His wife, Saoirse Ronan, has also submitted an application to play a villain in a future Bond film.

Callum Turner's filmography and personal life

Callum Turner has appeared in films such as Queen and Country and Green Room, as well as two Fantastic Beasts movies. He is also set to star in the upcoming series adaptation of Neuromancer by William Gibson. Turner has recently been in the news for his marriage to singer Dua Lipa.

Josh O'Connor's recent roles and connection to Craig

Josh O'Connor, who played young Prince Charles in The Crown, recently appeared in Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day and shared the screen with Daniel Craig in The Death of a Salesman: Wake Up Dead Man, which was released in December 2025. His co-starring experience with Craig may influence his chances in the audition process.
