Casting concludes for new James Bond actor

The final stage of selecting the next actor to portray James Bond is taking place this weekend, with three confirmed contenders. This process has been ongoing for five years, following Daniel Craig's last performance in Spectre in 2021.

New ownership and casting director

Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired the James Bond franchise in 2025, hired experienced casting director Nina Gold to choose the new 007. Screen tests will evaluate the finalists' charisma, dialogue skills, and stunt abilities this weekend, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.

Contenders for the role

The three known actors in contention are Jack Lowden, who previously played a spy in Slow Horses; Callum Turner, better known for his marriage to pop star Dua Lipa; and Josh O'Connor, who has appeared in The Crown and Challengers. The identity of any additional candidates remains unclear, though Jack O'Connell and Jacob Elordi are not among them.

Odds and upcoming projects

From a betting perspective, Jack Lowden is the favorite, with a 62% chance of securing the role, according to Oddschecker. Turner has a 25% chance, and O'Connor has a 13% chance. Lowden is also set to appear in the new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, which will be released on Netflix starting December 3. The final decision has not yet been announced, though it is known that the film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve for his first Bond movie.
