NMH Group reopens Mauritius hotel after renovation and plans Zanzibar acquisition, expanding its global presence with new tours and partnerships.
Hotel Reopens After Renovation
The NMH group has reopened its iconic hotel on the northwest coast of Mauritius after a four-month renovation that included updating suites and common areas, expanding the L'Oasis restaurant, and renovating the beach with sand and submerged geotextile structures to combat coastal erosion. The hotel's beach gained about fifteen meters in length.Zanzibar Acquisition in the Works
The group is preparing to officially announce the acquisition of a hotel in Zanzibar, valued at approximately 79 million dollars. This acquisition will expand the group's presence, with the Zanzibar hotel operating under the Beachcomber brand and becoming its eleventh establishment.Financial Performance for 2025/26
For the 2025/26 fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2026, the group reported a turnover of 61 million euros, a slight 5% decrease from the previous year, but with a net profit of approximately 600,000 euros. General Manager Guy Zekri stated that Mauritius, representing 50% of the group's activity, served as a refuge destination, largely due to direct flights with Air France, Air Mauritius, and Corsair.Tour Operator Resumes Growth
Beachcomber Tours, the group's in-house tour operator, plans to resume its growth path in 2027 following a difficult year influenced by the war in the Gulf countries. To reassure customers, the tour operator has reactivated its "Esprit tranquille" offer, allowing free modification and cancellation of accommodation up to ten days before departure, with a maximum cost of 500 euros per passenger if the plane ticket has been issued.Expansion into Tanzania and New Insurance
In addition to Mauritius, Beachcomber Tours is focusing on Tanzania, particularly Zanzibar, for 2027. A new civil liability insurer, Xplorassur, has been introduced to better manage local air transport challenges. The tour operator has expanded its offerings in Zanzibar with four seaside addresses, including Envi Paje 5* and the "Zanzibar Tranquille" circuit available in a luxury version.New Destinations and Offerings
Beachcomber Tours has also added hotels in Sri Lanka, including a hotel in Colombo, and plans a new "Sesel Trankil" circuit in Seychelles. French Polynesia constitutes 30% of the tour operator's turnover, but challenges include sharp increases in high-end hotel prices and a lack of lower-segment offers. To address these, the company is introducing villa rentals in Tahiti and Moorea, and new pensions in Rangiroa, Tikehau, and Rimatara.Cruise and Partnership Developments
Cruise options are also being expanded, including luxury boats from Windstar Cruises, the mixed cargo Aranoa (Aranui Cruises), and the Jacques Cartier from Ponant Explorations. Beachcomber Tours has partnered with Ponant for a fourth time to organize a commercial tour, visiting 54 cities and meeting 1,500 travel agents. The tour operator relies on its new professional website beachpro.fr, which accounts for about 10% of sales. An educational tour in Polynesia is also being organized in conjunction with the tour, featuring a lottery and a challenge for sales representatives from both companies.
