Joel Louis, 34, was arrested as part of a Metropolitan Police investigation into a drug distribution network known as the “Bobby” line. The probe began when police examined mobile phones taken from children suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. During the investigation, officers traced Louis to a public Wi-Fi network he used at an address where he was hiding. Despite efforts to remain hidden, Louis was identified through this connection.
Louis had gone to great lengths to avoid being caught, using a virtual private network (VPN) to mask his location. However, his use of a public Wi-Fi connection inadvertently revealed his whereabouts. On July 7, police executed a search warrant at an address in Wembley and found Louis hiding in a wardrobe. Inside the property, officers discovered Class A drugs such as cocaine and heroin, estimated to be worth £8,800 on the street, along with approximately £8,000 in cash and six mobile phones. One of the phones was used to manage the “Bobby” drug line.
Other items found at the location included a loaded firearm, 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition (three of which were in the gun’s magazine), a machete, and a flip knife. Louis was charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a firearm and ammunition. On September 11, he was sentenced to 12 years and nine months in prison for drug supply offenses in north Kilburn.
Detective Constable Lauren Gresty, who led the investigation, said Louis had recruited many young people to help distribute drugs in the area, exposing them to violence, intimidation, and criminal behavior for his financial benefit. She highlighted the destructive impact of county lines—drug networks that often involve vulnerable individuals—and emphasized the Metropolitan Police’s dedication to targeting those who cause the most harm in London.
