Former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has praised the potential of Arsenal’s young midfielder Max Dowman, calling the 16-year-old an "unbelievable" talent. Dowman joined Arsenal’s senior team last season after excelling in the club’s academy, making 13 appearances across all competitions. He made headlines in March when he scored a memorable goal against Everton, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at just 15 years and 267 days. Dowman continued to impress during pre-season, scoring and providing an assist in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Girona, but he has yet to make his debut this season for the current league champions. He has been an unused substitute in recent matches, including wins over Coventry City and Chelsea. Giggs first saw Dowman play during a Youth Cup match against United, where the young midfielder won a penalty and took it against players two years his senior. He was struck by Dowman’s confidence and decision-making, comparing him to players from his own youth team. Giggs reached out to Dowman’s coach, Albert Stuivenberg, to commend him, calling the teenager a "special player." His praise highlights the growing attention being paid to Dowman, who is now seen as one of the most promising talents in English football. Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman also weighed in on Dowman’s potential, saying he could match Giggs’ own talent as a young player. Seaman noted that Dowman appears to be a typical 16-year-old off the pitch but displays the composure of a more experienced player on it. He referenced Bryan Robson’s description of a young Giggs, suggesting that Dowman could achieve similar success if he remains injury-free and continues to develop. Manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that Dowman still has a role to play this season, especially after the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Arteta emphasized the need for the team to demonstrate versatility and depth in the attacking flank, given the new squad composition. While Dowman has yet to feature this season, his performances in pre-season and last season have shown that he could be a valuable asset for Arsenal as they aim to defend their title and continue their pursuit of success.
