Cheick Sekou Condé injured in game

Cheick Sekou Condé, a 34-year-old 2.04-meter center from Guinea, will not play for C'Chartres Métropole Basket for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during a game against Angers on October 16. He left the court unable to put weight on his leg. The injury ends his first season with the team after only four matches in the Nationale 1 league.

Condé's performance in four games

In those four appearances, Condé averaged 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1 assist per game, shooting at a 65.2% clip from the field. His efficiency was notable, particularly considering he averaged only 16 minutes per game. In the Coupe de France, he scored 11 points in a narrow loss to Blois on September 15.

Injury during team's second win

The injury occurred during Chartres' second league victory of the season against Angers. Condé was absent four days later when the team suffered a heavy defeat at Tours (98-73).

Chartres' poor league performance

Chartres is currently struggling in the Nationale 1 league, sitting in 12th place in Pool B after six games with two wins and four losses. The team has had inconsistent results, with losses to Sables-d'Olonne (81-75) and Challans (73-87) before victories over Rennes (103-89) on October 2 and Angers (67-62). They suffered another heavy loss to Tours on October 20.

Upcoming challenge without Condé

Chartres will face Lorient, the second-place team in Pool B with four wins in seven games, on October 23. The team will have to adjust without Condé, who was a key player in the paint, particularly in scoring near the basket. It remains unclear how the club will compensate for his absence as the season progresses.
