French golfers struggle in Korn Ferry Tour qualifiers

Tom Guéant and Jules Gentil, two French golfers competing in the Korn Ferry Tour qualifying tournament, faced difficulties in the first round. The Korn Ferry Tour is a professional golf circuit that serves as a pathway to the PGA Tour, the top tier of men's golf in the United States.

Challenging first round results

Guéant, a 25-year-old from the Alps Tour, scored 81 at the Preserve at Ironhorse course in Florida, placing him in 71st and last position. Gentil, a 21-year-old amateur golfer, also scored 77 at the Bermuda Run Country Club, securing the same 71st position.

Qualification goals remain distant

To advance to the second stage of the qualifiers, players must be in the top 16 or 17. Both French golfers are currently about ten shots behind the required score, making their chances of progressing uncertain.

Hope remains for future rounds

Despite the tough start, both Guéant and Gentil still have three days of competition left. The second stage of the qualifiers begins in early December, followed by a final round at the TPC Sawgrass in mid-December, offering them a chance to continue their pursuit of a professional golf career.
