Narbonne rotates its squad

Narbonne has decided to rotate its squad for its upcoming match against Brive on October 23, with the goal of protecting important players from overuse or injury. This decision comes despite Colomiers’ 15th-place position in the ProD2 standings, as the team is preparing to face a motivated Colomiers side.

Squad changes and injuries

The decision to rotate is partly due to the team needing to refresh its starting lineup by nearly 50% this summer and dealing with multiple injuries since the season began. Around twenty players have been missing from the squad, including key players such as Thomas Vernet, Abraham Pole, Facundo Pomponio, Clément Bitz, Caleb Timu, and Tom Chauvet. Additional absences include Moreaux, Lavasele, Peni, Naqalevu, and the fast winger Navizet, as reported by L'Indépendant.

Recent performance and concerns

Narbonne made this choice following a heavy home defeat against Oyonnax (14-57), which highlighted the need to manage player workload. While the move is logical, it may be risky against Colomiers, who have improved their defensive performance, led by captain Luka Plataret, who recorded 20 tackles in the most recent match.

Colomiers’ potential and strengths

Although Colomiers struggled in their previous match against Grenoble, conceding seven penalties, their team has the potential to perform well if they focus on basics and regain their form. Their backline is seen as capable of making an impact, especially with a strong desire to secure points.

Colomiers’ scoring ability

When Colomiers play confidently, the score can rise quickly, as seen in their 66-21 win over Dax last month. The young Narbonne team now faces the challenge of avoiding a similar result in their match against Colomiers.
