Used car listings in Europe are rising, driven by diesel vehicles, while hybrids and electric cars face a decline, according to Leparking's latest report.
Used car listings rise in Europe
Used car listings in Europe have increased after a small drop in September, according to a study by Leparking, a platform that collects listings from various sources. As of mid-October 2026, five European countries—France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Belgium—had 4,104,000 listings for cars and light commercial vehicles.France and Germany see growth
France saw a 7 percent increase in used car listings, reaching 1,063,000 units, while Germany reached its highest level since January 2021, with 1,645,000 listings. However, Italy and Spain both recorded declines, with Italy down 2.7 percent and Spain down 1.8 percent.Diesel vehicles gain traction
The rise in used car listings is partly due to an increase in diesel vehicles listed on online platforms. The five-country area saw 1,535,000 diesel vehicle listings, a 3.5 percent increase from the previous month. This follows a three-month decline in diesel listings.Electric and hybrid cars decline
In contrast, listings for used hybrid and electric vehicles have decreased. Leparking reported just over 434,000 hybrids and barely 173,600 electric models listed. Belgium saw an increase in electric vehicle listings, but France, Italy, and Germany experienced declines.Used car prices remain stable
Used car prices across the five countries studied remained relatively stable, averaging 20,058 euros. Professionals saw a slight increase of 0.3 percent, while private individuals experienced a small decrease of 0.4 percent.Average listing duration increases
The average lifespan of a used car listing in the five main countries was 60 days, increasing to 62 days when including the Netherlands and Portugal. In France, the average listing duration was lower at 52 days, but the slowdown among professionals extended the listing period to 75 days.
