A woman in her 70s has died at an Aldi supermarket in Worcester after collapsing in front of other customers. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the store on Bath Road shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. When medics arrived, they found the woman in critical condition and began efforts to revive her. A defibrillator, a device used to restore normal heart rhythm in cases of cardiac arrest, was also brought from a nearby Toby Carvery restaurant. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to a medical emergency at the Aldi store and dispatched an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance. Upon arrival, they found the woman in critical condition. Despite the best efforts of the emergency responders, she could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and there is no indication that anyone else was involved. Police are not conducting a formal investigation into the incident. Aldi expressed its deep sadness over the incident and praised its staff for their immediate response. A spokesperson said the company was "deeply saddened" and extended its thoughts to the woman’s family and friends. They acknowledged the difficult situation and commended their colleagues for acting swiftly and professionally. Aldi also confirmed it is providing support to the employees affected by the incident.
