Tourism Exchange Japan has introduced a new B2B platform called Japan Travel Trade Portal (JTTP). Designed for travel agencies and tour operators, this platform aims to promote lesser-known regions of Japan beyond the traditional tourist hotspots of Tokyo and Kyoto. It offers access to a carefully curated selection of accommodations, ranging from traditional Japanese inns known as ryokans to private villas, all of which can be reserved in real time with a 13% commission based on the total reservation price. The JTTP features a multilingual interface available in English, French, Chinese (both traditional and simplified), and Japanese. It includes an automatic translation feature, allowing international travel agents to interact with local establishments that may only communicate in Japanese. Additional features include advanced inventory search tools, basket-based reservations, unlimited cancellations and modifications, direct billing with suppliers, and advanced filtering options. These filters allow travelers to find accommodations that cater to specific needs, such as access to onsens (hot springs) for guests with tattoos or options for dietary restrictions. Interactive maps and itinerary suggestions are integrated into the platform to help travel professionals create customized travel plans. The initial rollout of the JTTP will focus on several Japanese regions that are currently less frequented by international tourists. These include the Kii Peninsula, Niigata, Yukiguni, Nagato Yumoto Onsen, the San'in region, Izumo, and Matsue. These areas are chosen for their rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and authentic experiences, including pilgrimages, rural landscapes, hot springs, and unique accommodations. The platform plans to gradually expand to other regions, such as Hokuriku, Mount Fuji, Nagano, Setouchi, Kyushu, and Okinawa. This expansion aims to provide a broader range of options for travelers seeking to explore Japan beyond the well-trodden paths, emphasizing the country's diverse landscapes and traditions.
