Tiger Woods was recently captured on camera practicing tee shots at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey, where he is set to host The Nexus Cup, an exclusive amateur team golf tournament. The event is organized by Woods to raise funds for his TGR Foundation, which supports youth development through sports. The footage has sparked discussions about whether Woods might be considering a return to professional golf, though he has not officially confirmed any plans to compete again. During an instructional clinic at the event, Woods was asked about the current state of his game and responded, "I can hit pretty much anything," suggesting he still possesses strong technical skills. This appearance comes shortly after Woods entered a plea of no contest in Florida to charges related to a March car crash. He faced accusations of willful, wanton, and reckless driving, as well as refusing to submit to a drug test. As part of the agreement, Woods accepted a $1,000 fine and two five-year suspensions of his driver's license. The DUI charge was dropped. Although Woods was unharmed in the crash and passed a breathalyzer test for alcohol, his refusal to take a drug test led to an additional $500 fine. According to a police report, officers noted that Woods was sweating heavily, appeared lethargic and slow, and had bloodshot, glassy eyes. Woods has not participated in any major or competitive golf events since 2024. His ability to play has been significantly limited by multiple back surgeries, including a disk replacement in October, as well as severe leg injuries from a car accident in 2021. His last professional tournament victory was at the 2019 Zozo Championship, before the 2021 crash and the subsequent legal and medical challenges he has faced. Despite these obstacles, Woods continues to engage with the sport through events like The Nexus Cup, which highlight his ongoing involvement in golf beyond competition.
