New tax relief for Tarn-et-Garonne farmers

Farmers in Tarn-et-Garonne are getting new financial support to help them recover from agricultural losses caused by drought, heatwaves, and hail. The measures include property tax exemptions, direct aid, and zero-interest loans, aimed at easing the financial strain on the sector.

Tax exemptions for vineyards and tree cultivation

In the communes of Albias, Cazes-Mondenard, and Nègrepelisse, farmers will see an 80% reduction in property tax on land used for vineyards and tree cultivation. These areas were hit by hail, compounding the damage from earlier droughts and high temperatures.

Planned tax exemptions for 2026

Further tax reductions are set to take effect in 2026. These include 55% for pastures and arable land, 50% for tree cultivation excluding hazelnuts, and 65% for hazelnut orchards. The property tax deadline is also being extended to November 15, 2026.

Financial aid through the agricultural rearmament fund

The agricultural rearmament fund is providing 2.6 million euros in aid to farms in Tarn-et-Garonne. By October 12, about 130 farms had already received 600,000 euros. The support ranges from 5,000 euros per farm, with higher amounts for newer farms and specific sectors like horticulture.

Loan interest support and restructuring aid

To help with cash flow, the state will cover interest on bank loans up to 50,000 euros over two years, with a maximum of 2,500 euros per farm. Farmers who have been in business less than five years can also get help with restructuring their loan repayments.

Extended diesel consumption support

The program for non-road diesel consumption support has been extended, with counters reopened for two months. So far, 2,178 applications have been made, and 283,000 euros has been paid out. The program will run until the end of December 2026.

Crop loss support for uninsured farmers

Uninsured farmers can now apply for a national solidarity allowance to cover crop losses. Certain crops, including large crops, seed crops, horticulture, Ente plums, and hazelnuts, are eligible under a ministerial decree issued on October 2, 2026.
