Clément Venturini has signed a two-season contract with the professional cycling team Lotto-Intermarché, which will be valid until the end of 2028. This follows his recent season with the Unibet Rose Rockets team. Venturini, a 32-year-old French cyclist from Villeurbane, is returning to the World Tour, a series of elite professional cycling races, after previous roles with teams like AG2R La Mondiale and Arkéa – B&B Hotels. He aims to achieve strong personal results and accumulate significant UCI points, which are crucial for rider rankings, while also helping younger riders with his experience. Venturini had been in contact with Jean-François Bourlart, the CEO of Lotto-Intermarché, last year. However, the merger between Intermarché-Wanty and Lotto Cycling Team initially created uncertainty about his potential signing. This year, Venturini regained victory at the race La Roue Tourangelle and mentioned that he enjoyed the international environment and has made progress in English. He also emphasized the French connection within the Lotto-Intermarché team, recalling how Tony Gallopin won the yellow jersey at the Tour de France in 2014 when racing under Lotto's colors. Jean-François Bourlart expressed his satisfaction at finally welcoming Venturini to the team. He highlighted that Venturini’s experience, his ability to read races, and his "puncheur" profile—referring to a rider who excels in short, steep climbs—complement the team's strategy well. Bourlart believes Venturini's addition will strengthen the team’s overall performance and contribute to its goals in upcoming competitions. Venturini’s return to the World Tour marks a significant step in his career, as he looks to build on his past successes and contribute to the team's ambitions. His journey reflects the dynamic nature of professional cycling, where team mergers and rider movements are common, and where experience plays a key role in shaping both individual and collective success.
