French Navy showcases modernization at Euronaval 2026

From November 3 to 6, 2026, the Ministry of Defense and Veterans will participate in the Euronaval exhibition in Paris-Nord Villepinte. This event is one of the largest naval trade shows in Europe, where countries and defense companies display their latest technologies and capabilities.

Focus on high-intensity combat challenges

The exhibition will highlight the transformation of the French Navy in response to challenges related to high-intensity combat, submarine warfare, and increasing threats. The French military is adapting to a more complex and dangerous global environment, emphasizing readiness for modern conflicts.

Three main priorities for the French booth

Three main priorities will structure the ministry's booth: mastering information, strengthening the protection of forces, and developing projection capabilities. These priorities reflect the need for the navy to operate effectively in both defensive and offensive scenarios across multiple domains.

Advanced technologies on display

Technologies to be presented include multidomain surveillance, secure communications, anti-drone operations, antimissile defense, and mine warfare. Specific systems such as the Syracuse IVB, CAPTAS-4, RapidFire, Aster missiles, and underwater drones will be showcased, illustrating the navy’s technological edge.

Showcasing major naval capabilities

The ministry will also highlight major capabilities of the French naval power, including the future France Libre aircraft carrier, defense and intervention frigates (FDI), FREMM, Suffren-class attack submarines, Rafale Marine F4.1, and the naval cruise missile MdCN. These programs emphasize modernization and the goal of maintaining industrial sovereignty in defense production.

Future of naval combat discussed

The exhibition will include several interventions focused on the future of naval combat, covering topics such as drone-based operations of underwater activities, cyber defense, resilient communications, artificial intelligence, and software-piloted naval combat. These discussions aim to shape the next generation of naval strategies and technologies.

Key figures participate in the event

Minister of Defense Catherine Vautrin will open the exhibition on November 3, while Admiral Christophe Cluzel, Chief of Staff of the Navy, will participate in an exchange with Patrick Pailloux, the general delegate for armaments, on November 5. Their involvement underscores the significance of the event for national defense strategy.

Celebrating 400 years of the French Navy

This edition of Euronaval is also part of the celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the French Navy. An immersive virtual reality experience will trace four centuries of missions and innovations, while the Perseus Award will be presented on November 4 to recognize defense innovation.
