Los Inescalables Alpes, buscando a Currito is a dance performance that explores the intense longing to reunite with someone. The title suggests a journey of immense difficulty, much like climbing the Alps, and the performance reflects this theme through its physical and emotional intensity. Created by the Andalusian choreographer María del Mar Suárez, known as La Chachi, the piece blends traditional flamenco with contemporary influences such as krump, a street dance style, and a punk attitude. This fusion results in a deeply personal and innovative form of expression that both honors and reimagines flamenco traditions. On stage, two musicians and a singer command attention with their powerful presence, while a soft light slowly reveals La Chachi’s silhouette. Her movements are grounded and deliberate, with flamenco emerging in sudden, powerful bursts. The dance is full of tension and release, with styles blending and shifting—making it hard to define whether it is a concert or a performance. The music builds gradually, creating a setting that feels both intimate and overwhelming. La Chachi appears to approach the audience as if she is climbing the Alps, and the audience feels as though they are watching her climb from the peak down to them. The performance becomes increasingly intense as the music loops and grows louder, like an avalanche gaining momentum. It pulls the audience into its rhythm, refusing to let go of its emotional and physical quest. Los Inescalables Alpes is described as a hypnotic and deeply moving experience that challenges the boundaries of flamenco and highlights La Chachi as one of the most compelling artists of her generation. The show took place from 2 to 4 October 2026 at Vidy, Lausanne, Room 17, Le Pavillon.
