Berlin-based brand Lemmo has unveiled a new electric bicycle, the Lemmo 3, on its website and YouTube channel on Tuesday, September 29. The Lemmo 3 is described as a longtail electric bicycle, primarily suspended at the front and rear. Lemmo prefers to use the term "All-Purpose Vehicle" (APV) rather than "cargo bike" for this category, which it says fills the gap between a bicycle and an electric moped for daily trips, transporting children, shopping, and off-road outings.
The Lemmo 3 features three suspensions: a hydraulic fork with 80 mm of travel, a rear shock with 80 mm, and a suspended seat post with 20 mm. The tires are 65 mm wide (2.6 inches), on a 24-inch wheel in front and a 20-inch wheel in the rear. The large front wheel allows better obstacle clearance, and the small rear wheel lowers the bicycle's center of gravity. The maximum allowed weight, including the bicycle, is 200 kg. The cyclist can weigh up to 120 kg, the rear rack can carry 80 kg, and the front rack, as an option, 20 kg. The open frame, with the adjustable stem, can accommodate cyclists from 1.55 m to 1.95 m.
The Bafang motor is located in the rear hub: it is an H550 for the chain drive version and an H732 for the belt drive version. The technical sheet states 90 Nm of torque and 1,200 watts peak, for a nominal power of 250 watts and assistance cut off at 25 km/h in Europe. The 960 Wh battery uses semi-solid cells. Lemmo promises up to 180 km of autonomy (100 to 120 km at full charge, according to its own FAQ), a manufacturer's figure to be taken with caution.
Two transmissions are offered. The first one uses the electronic derailleur and the automatic gear shifting already seen on the Lemmo One Collab.Ride and its AI-enhanced transmission. The second combines a belt with a 3-speed integrated hub motor, which also automatically shifts gears, for an additional 169 euros HT. At the handlebar, a 3.5-inch touchscreen works with a GPS and a 4G LTE connection, which also offers remote updates. A millimeter-wave radar monitors traffic up to 100 meters behind the bicycle and warns, on the screen and with a sound signal, when a vehicle approaches. The braking is ensured by hydraulic disc brakes with four pistons, coupled together. Each of the two levers actuates both the front and rear.
Against theft, the bicycle has a physical lock, a GPS tracker with an alarm, and, as an option, the Smartlink folding anti-theft device (99 euros HT), all controlled from the Lemmo application or the screen. The GPS tracking and 4G connection are currently free, but Lemmo states in its FAQ that it reserves the right to make them paid in the future. Regarding after-sales service, the brand claims more than 250 service points in Europe and promises spare parts available from the first deliveries.
The Lemmo 3 will be launched on Kickstarter starting in October, with deliveries announced for spring 2027. Its recommended price is 3,390 euros HT. A refundable deposit of 39.90 euros, paid before the launch, allows blocking a price of 1,890 euros HT. On paper, the technical sheet is very convincing for a family that rides in the city as well as on trails. However, Kickstarter remains a crowdfunding platform, without delivery guarantees. Lemmo only states that the campaign's public price will be "significantly higher" than the reservation price, without giving a figure.
