Apple has updated its official repair pricing page to reflect the costs for the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. In France, the price for replacing a battery outside of warranty now stands at 149 euros, up from 135 euros for the previous generation models. This change comes as Apple unveils the latest iPhone models and updates its repair pricing grid, which is specific to each new iPhone generation. The increase in battery replacement costs is notable, especially as Apple is currently promoting its new AppleCare+ plans, which offer extended warranty and repair coverage. The 14 euro increase for battery replacement in France mirrors a similar trend in the United States, where the price has risen from 119 to 129 dollars. Other repair costs for out-of-warranty damage are also significant. In the U.S., replacing a cracked glass back costs 159 dollars, a damaged rear camera lens costs 249 dollars, and a screen replacement for the iPhone 18 Pro is priced at 329 dollars. If both the screen and glass back are damaged, the cost can reach up to 419 dollars. In France, the screen replacement for the iPhone 18 Pro is now 405 euros, and for the Pro Max, some combined repairs could exceed 1,000 euros. Apple explains part of the price increase by pointing to the larger battery capacity in the new models. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,056 mAh battery, compared to 3,988 mAh in the iPhone 17 Pro. The Pro Max model has a battery capacity that has increased from 4,823 to 5,391 mAh. These larger components may be more expensive to manufacture and replace, which could justify the higher repair costs. This also serves as a marketing incentive for AppleCare+ subscriptions, which provide coverage for such repairs. The timing of the price update is strategic, as Apple is expanding its AppleCare+ coverage in France to include protection against loss and theft for the iPad and Apple Watch, which were previously only covered for the iPhone. This new coverage allows up to two incidents of loss or theft per year for each of these devices. Apple also highlights a financial benefit: users who insure an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch together can save up to 13.48 euros per month compared to purchasing three separate AppleCare+ contracts. With higher repair costs, Apple is effectively pushing users toward its AppleCare One subscription plan, which was recently introduced in France.
