Young French tennis player enters Rolex Paris Masters

Moïse Kouame, a 17-year-old French tennis player currently ranked 176th in the world, has been given a direct entry into the main draw of the Rolex Paris Masters, a prestigious men’s tennis tournament held annually in Paris. This opportunity comes after he was initially invited to compete in the qualifiers of the Masters 1000 in Nanterre.

Wild card granted after withdrawals

Kouame received a wild card entry after several players withdrew from the tournament, including Jakub Mensik. The wild card was originally offered to Quentin Halys, who entered the main draw directly, but Halys returned his invitation, allowing Kouame to take his place in the main draw.

Kouame's current form and upcoming match

Kouame is currently competing in the semifinals of the Brest Challenger, a smaller ATP Challenger tournament. He will now face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his first match at the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins in Île-de-France. The draw for the 2026 edition of the tournament was announced on Friday, October 30.

Tournament director explains wild card decision

Cédric Pioline, the tournament director, explained that Kouame was chosen for the wild card because he is a notable attraction for the event. Pioline noted that Kouame is more well known than his current ranking suggests, having climbed 600 positions in the rankings since the start of the year and performing well at Roland-Garros, the French Open.

High expectations and challenging draw

Pioline expressed confidence in Kouame’s potential on the ATP circuit, though he acknowledged that the draw for the tournament is extremely strong. Kouame’s first-round match is described as more than difficult, highlighting the high level of competition he will face in his debut at the Rolex Paris Masters.
