Netflix has confirmed that filming for the third season of Mercredi is now complete. The streaming platform shared a statement saying that "the filming of season 3 is nearing its end." The series, created by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega as the protagonist, has become one of Netflix's most popular shows. Its first season was the most-watched English-language series on the platform, with 252 million views over four years. Season 2, which concluded in 2025, revealed the origins of the Thing and brought back Ophelia, Morticia's sister, and has been viewed 119 million times so far. The upcoming third season is expected to feature Eva Green and Winona Ryder, two actors closely associated with Tim Burton's style. Green will portray Ophelia, while Ryder will play Tabitha. Returning actors include Emma Myers as Enid, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Mercredi's parents Morticia and Gomez Addams, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. The season will also introduce new cast members such as Chris Sarandon, Lena Headey, and Andrew McCarthy. According to some reports, the third season will not only take place at Nevermore Academy but will also include a trip to Paris with Uncle Fester. While details of the plot remain unclear, it is speculated that Mercredi may search for Enid Sinclair, who was left trapped in her werewolf form at the end of season 2. No official release date has been announced yet, though some sources suggest it could be released by the end of 2027. Previous seasons were released in November 2022 and split into two parts in August and September 2025.
