Tom Holland, best known for his role as Spider-Man, starred in the 2022 film Uncharted, which is based on a popular video game of the same name. The movie follows Nathan Drake, a clever and adventurous thief played by Holland, who teams up with treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to search for the lost fortune of Ferdinand Magellan. The film was released in theaters and earned over $400 million worldwide. Holland described the experience of filming Uncharted as more intense than his work on the Spider-Man films. He said the process was "much more difficult than I thought" and noted that the Uncharted franchise is "very, very different" from what he is used to. He also mentioned that playing Nathan Drake, who is older than him, was a different experience from portraying Peter Parker, whom he described as a "younger version of myself." Holland discovered the Uncharted video game while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming. He noted that Sony's involvement in both the Spider-Man films and the Uncharted game allowed the cast to have access to PlayStation consoles and the game during production. He and his friend played the game extensively during filming. To prepare for the physically demanding role, Holland focused on building muscle, inspired by Wahlberg's physique. He mentioned that he trained intensely and ate a lot to bulk up, which impressed Wahlberg, who complimented him on his efforts. The film, which features Antonio Banderas as the villain, was a public success, with over 2.5 million viewers in French cinemas.
