Lyon's night race, now titled Radiance Mutuelle Lyon Urban Trail by Night, will see 9,000 runners navigate the city's historic sites on November 7.
Event renamed and nearing full capacity
The 12th edition of the Lyon Urban Trail by Night, now named with Radiance Mutuelle as the title sponsor, is set to take place on Saturday, November 7. Approximately 9,000 bibs are available for sale, with only a few dozen remaining on longer courses due to space constraints at the finish line.Race formats and locations
The event offers three formats: a 30 km course that includes the aqueduct of Beaunant, a 20 km, and a 10 km that is also open to hikers. Runners will navigate through the streets of Lyon on the right bank of the Saône, including the Saint-Jean district, the hills of Fourvière, Sainte-Foy, and Oullins.Night race atmosphere and environmental efforts
The night race is described as more festive and younger than the daytime edition, which took place in April and attracted over 12,500 participants. The event will conclude with a Lyonnaise snack and a finisher beer. Environmental considerations include a ban on single-use plastic and refreshment stops that prioritize short circuits.Volunteers and public transport concerns
Approximately 400 to 500 volunteers will oversee the event, which organizers consider "mature and mastered." The primary concern is public transport, as metro lines were closed last weekend due to a social movement. Organizers hope the lines will be operational on Saturday to avoid participants adding extra kilometers to their race distance.
