SWISS adds Bengaluru to its India routes

SWISS, the Swiss airline, began a direct flight between Zurich and Bengaluru on October 27, 2026, expanding its presence in India to include a third city after Delhi and Mumbai. The new route is aimed at connecting business travelers, families, and tourists in southern India with Switzerland.

The inaugural flight, LX140, departed Zurich at 13:34 on October 27. During the winter months, flights from Zurich to Bengaluru operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, departing at 13:20 and arriving the next day at 2:55. Return flights, LX141, leave Bengaluru at 4:50 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, arriving in Zurich at 10:50 the same day.

Flight duration and connectivity

The flight from Zurich to Bengaluru takes 9 hours and 5 minutes. Travelers arriving in Switzerland can continue their journeys through SWISS's network or the broader Lufthansa Group network, which includes multiple European destinations.

Strategic importance of Bengaluru

Bengaluru, known for its technology and innovation industries, completes SWISS's Indian service, which previously served Delhi and Mumbai. The airline aims to cater to business travelers in the tech sector, the Indian diaspora, and tourists visiting southern India. Jens Fehlinger, CEO of SWISS, highlighted the potential of India and Bengaluru's role as a hub for technology and innovation.

Lufthansa Group connectivity

Within the Lufthansa Group, the new SWISS route from Bengaluru connects to Zurich, complementing existing services from Bengaluru to Frankfurt and Munich. This increases the number of European hubs accessible from Bengaluru to three, offering travelers more options to reach Europe and North America.

Route continuation through 2027

SWISS has confirmed that the Zurich-Bengaluru route will continue through the summer of 2027, with five weekly flights maintained. The summer schedule will run from March 28 to October 30, 2027, ensuring ongoing connectivity between Switzerland and southern India.
