Swiss to launch Zurich-Toulouse route in 2027

Swiss, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, has announced plans to operate a new direct flight route between Zurich and Toulouse beginning in the summer of 2027. The route will run twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, from June 25 to August 23, 2027, with each flight taking approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes.

Different aircraft for each flight day

The Monday flight will be operated by an Embraer E195-E1 aircraft operated by Helvetic Airways, while the Friday flight will use an Airbus A220-300. Both departures are scheduled for the beginning or end of the afternoon, offering travelers a convenient time slot for travel.

Return to a long-abandoned destination

This new route marks a return to Toulouse, a destination Swiss had not served for about ten years. The airline previously operated flights between Zurich and Toulouse from May 2015 with four weekly flights, but the route was discontinued in January 2016 due to insufficient profitability.

Part of a broader expansion plan

The Zurich-Toulouse route is part of Swiss’s 2027 summer program, which will offer flights to 95 destinations from Zurich, two more than in 2026. The expansion includes increased frequencies to several European cities, such as Paris and Nice, and focuses on destinations where Swiss believes it can provide the most value to its customers.

Strategic route for business and leisure travelers

The direct connection between Zurich and Toulouse simplifies access to Switzerland from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, avoiding the need for detours via Paris or Geneva. The route primarily targets business travelers, driven by the strong ties between Toulouse’s aerospace industry and Swiss industry, but it also appeals to those seeking to visit Switzerland’s natural attractions or connect to international destinations like Tokyo, Singapore, or New York.

Toulouse airport expands its route network

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport has been announcing new routes to Europe and beyond, signaling a growing trend of expansion. Meanwhile, Swiss has hinted at additional route changes for the 2027 summer season, further emphasizing the airline’s growing reliance on the South-West region of Switzerland.
