Audeze returns to the gaming market

Audeze, a well-known hi-fi brand, is re-entering the gaming headset market with the Penrose, following the success of its previous product, the Mobius. This new offering is Audeze’s first wireless headset that also includes a microphone.

Features and drawbacks of the Penrose

The Audeze Penrose offers several notable features, including clear and dynamic sound, impressive bass depth, high-quality construction, comfort, multiple connection options (wireless via USB, Bluetooth, and mini-jack), and full controls on the headset. However, it also has some drawbacks, such as slightly colored sound, limited transparency, a barely acceptable microphone, high weight, a confusing control app, and a battery life of around ten hours.

A unique but challenging product

The Audeze Penrose is considered an unusual product in the gaming headset market due to its audio performance, which, while not perfect, includes features like deep bass that few competitors can match. However, its complexity, limited battery life, and average microphone may not appeal to all users, even though it could satisfy those who prioritize sound quality.

HyperX Cloud III S Wireless as a competitor

The HyperX Cloud III S Wireless is mentioned as a competitor to the Audeze Penrose. While it is not considered the ultimate gaming headset, it improves upon the older Cloud III Wireless model by refining certain aspects and adding an active noise reduction system.
