GiFi announces judicial restructuring

The bazaar chain GiFi announced on October 20 that it would seek judicial restructuring to protect the company and continue its operations. This move comes as the company faces significant financial challenges and aims to stabilize its position in the market.

Judicial recovery procedure requested

GiFi will formally request a judicial recovery procedure, a legal process designed to help companies reorganize their debts and operations under court supervision. The company’s new head, Patrick Puy, made this announcement in a letter to employees, emphasizing the need for this step to ensure the company’s survival.

Market conditions worsened in summer

Puy noted that the market had deteriorated significantly during the summer, affecting GiFi’s performance. He explained that the company was not immune to these broader economic challenges and that the restructuring is a necessary response to the current situation.

No immediate impact on employment

The new chairman assured employees that the judicial recovery procedure would not immediately affect jobs or lead to new plans for employee separation (PSE). He emphasized that no new layoffs were planned at this stage, aiming to reassure the workforce during this period of uncertainty.
