The SACD Stage Music Fund, established by the SACD, is one of the few grants that supports both female and male composers in creating original music for a wide range of live performance genres. It aims to encourage diverse musical creation and help address the challenges of funding original stage music. With the increasing use of pre-existing music in performances, the fund seeks to support new compositions that accompany plays, puppet shows, dance, circus acts, and street arts. Out of 51 applications received, 13 projects were selected across various disciplines. In the field of street arts, George Châtaigne was awarded for the music of Lost in space, a project he also authored. The performance is directed by Jeanne Peylet-Frisch and Malo Martin and will be produced by collectif les aimants, with a scheduled creation in June 2027. In the circus category, Sergio Bacalhau received funding for the music of desafogadas - non-noyées - undrowned, a piece written and directed by Maïra de Oliveira Agio. It will be produced by AQUILOMBA and staged on September 25, 2027, at the National Scene of Cavaillon, LA GARANCE. For dance, several composers were selected. Mpumelelo Mcata will compose the music for Pantsula Jive, choreographed by Yane Corfa, Michèle Dhallu, and Charles Mafafane. The performance will be produced by Carré Blanc Cie and scheduled for the Théâtre Paul Eluard - Bezons (95). Franck Vigroux will compose the music for Hunger, a piece he also choreographed, which is set to debut on October 1, 2026, at Le Maillot, Festival Musica – Strasbourg. Other selected dance projects include Le Journal des Voleurs by Ulric Jacquot, Retournement (provisional title) by Léonie Pernet, Wet Monster by Charlotte Boisselier, Placards by Marion Cros, and Entre deux infinis by Romain Baranger. In the theater category, Pierre-Marie Braye-Weppe and Pierre-Alain Braye-Weppe were selected for the music of Alice, written and directed by Guillaume Barbot. Jean Galmiche will compose the music for Influent Mum, written and directed by Asja Nadjar. Alvise Sinivia will compose for La mort de Jean-Marie de Balma, and Martin Moulin for Le Lombric du monde. Each of these projects has a specific venue and date for their scheduled creation.
