Player's World Cup hopes remain strong

Grégory Alldritt, a 29-year-old rugby player for La Rochelle and the French national team, is hoping to be selected for the 2027 World Cup. He believes his performance with his club, La Rochelle, will be key in determining whether he earns a spot in the national squad.

Long absence from national team

Alldritt is approaching 365 days without being called up to the French national team, a period he would have preferred not to experience. His last appearance was on November 22 for a match against South Africa, which France won 48-33.

Disappointment over missing Six Nations

Despite not being selected for the last Six Nations tournament, Alldritt expressed disappointment at not being part of the French team that won the competition in 2025. He acknowledged the emotional impact of being away from the national team and its training base in Marcoussis.

Focus on club and trust in selection

In an interview with L'Équipe, Alldritt said he is not in the group for the upcoming World Cup but remains focused on his club performances. He trusts the selection staff, including head coach Fabien Galthié, to choose players based on their current form and readiness.

No plans for international retirement

Alldritt has ruled out retiring from international rugby unless he feels he can no longer compete at a high level. He described the idea of retiring as "nonsense" and is currently undergoing a PRP, a medical procedure used to treat certain injuries, which will keep him out of La Rochelle's match against LOU.
