Speeding vehicle intercepted

On the night of Sunday, October 18, to Monday, October 19, 2026, the municipal police of Carrières-sous-Poissy (Yvelines) intercepted a Renault Clio traveling at more than 100 km/h in urban areas.

Vehicle carried stolen goods

The vehicle was found to be carrying nine people, some in the trunk, and the driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.76 g/l. According to Le Parisien, the police discovered that the vehicle contained items of burglary equipment, such as gloves and balaclavas, as well as new clothing still with their price tags and anti-theft devices.

Clothing linked to thefts

The clothing was confirmed to have come from thefts committed earlier in the evening in Paris, near demonstrations. The crew was composed of eight minors and one young adult driver, who was operating the vehicle under a probationary license.

Driver faces legal consequences

The driver was taken to the correctional court for an immediate hearing on Tuesday, October 20. At the hearing, the defendant attempted to downplay his involvement in the Parisian vandalism, claiming he had not participated in any thefts despite the burglary equipment found on board, attributing its presence to the minors he was transporting.

Court imposes strict penalties

However, the presiding judge rejected this defense, citing serious traffic offenses including excessive speeding in urban areas, driving under the influence, and endangering others. The court sentenced the young man to 18 months in prison, immediately placed him under custody, revoked his driver's license, imposed a fine of 700 euros, and prohibited him from entering Paris for two years.
