Highway chase begins in Yvelines

At 4:30 am on the A13 highway in the Yvelines, an Audi A3 Sportback overtook a vehicle from the anti-crime unit (BAC). The police officers were patrolling near Épône when the German compact car suddenly appeared at high speed, marking the start of a chase.

Chase encounters construction zone

A few kilometers further, a construction zone in Guerville forced the Audi to slow down. The police took the opportunity to order the driver to stop, but the driver refused to comply, increasing speed again and reaching 200 km/h on the A13.

High-speed escape continues

The escape continued between access ramps and successive exits. It ended far from the highway's lanes, in an unexpected setting for a compact sedan. The Audi A3 Sportback overtook the anti-crime unit's vehicle, which had been driving on the A13 highway near Épône in the Yvelines.

Police pursue through urban area

After leaving the highway, the driver was seen on Boulevard Roger-Salengro and then disappeared into the urban area. A little later, the same vehicle was spotted in Buchelay, still in the Mantois area. A setup was then put in place at the roundabout in Soindres, in Magnanville.

Audi stops on agricultural road

The Audi arrived at high speed and entered a dirt road to try to evade the police. On this agricultural road, the car eventually came to a stop, and the two occupants got out, hands in the air, facing the police. The driver, aged 24, and his 33-year-old passenger showed clear signs of intoxication.

Legal consequences for the driver

They were placed under custody. The investigation charged the young man with refusal to comply, speeding, and driving under the influence. Presented in a pre-trial hearing before the judicial court in Versailles, he was condemned. The sentence imposed was four months in prison with a suspended sentence.
