Underground network modernization planned

The underground infrastructure of the Jean-Baptiste-Marty promenade will be upgraded as part of a project managed by Sète agglopôle méditerranée. The project focuses on improving systems for drinking water, sanitation, and rainwater collection.

Project cost and objectives

The total cost of the modernization is 608,095 euros, including taxes. One of the main goals is to better separate rainwater from wastewater to reduce the risk of system saturation during heavy rainfall.

Current system and its limitations

Currently, wastewater and rainwater are partially collected in the same "unitary" network. This setup can lead to equipment saturation during heavy rains, increasing the risk of overflow and discharge into the natural environment.

New rainwater pipeline installation

The project plans to install 260 meters of pipeline specifically for rainwater, connecting to the existing network at the quai de la Consigne. This will divert rainwater from an estimated surface area of 5,870 square meters away from the unitary network.

Expected benefits of the changes

According to the municipality, separating rainwater from wastewater should reduce the volume of water directed to the sanitation network and improve its performance during rainy periods.
