Unaware pregnancy results in unexpected birth

A 23-year-old woman from Georgia gave birth to a baby girl in her shower without realizing she was pregnant. The incident was reported by Fox News, which described how the young woman delivered the child without medical assistance before informing her family.

Birth occurred in family home

The woman, Briana Folk, gave birth on Saturday morning at her uncle’s house, where she had recently moved after leaving New York. She was alone in the bathroom when she delivered her daughter, cut the umbilical cord, and cleaned the newborn.

No visible signs of pregnancy

According to Fox News, Briana showed no visible signs of pregnancy. Her mother, Michelle Richmond, noted that her daughter continued to have menstrual bleeding and that her stomach had only slightly swollen. The family was completely surprised by the birth.

Back pain was the only clue

The day before the birth, Briana had complained of significant back pain. This was the only indication that something unusual was happening. After the birth, she remained with her baby for about an hour before calling for help.

Baby is in good health

The newborn, named Makila Miracle Atkins, weighed 2.35 kilograms and measured 46.4 centimeters at birth. She is feeding normally and has passed her hearing test. Both mother and child are in good health and are recovering well.
